KIMMAYA & SHRIKANT
A truly remarkable story this year was about the success and independence achieved by two adult PDA students who got married after completing their livelihood training at CPAI. It is heartening to know that Kimmaya is working in the production of artificial jewelry in Malad, while the other individual is involved in the hospitality sector, their ability to contribute as earning members of the household and manage their finances independently demonstrates their capabilities and determination. Moreover, their talents as professional dancers and active participation in CPAI's cultural programs showcase their passion and commitment to their interests. It's wonderful to see how they have embraced their talents and are fully engaged in artistic pursuits. Providing sex education and ongoing counseling sessions to address any matters that may arise is a testament to CPAI's comprehensive approach to supporting the holistic well-being of individuals with different abilities. By addressing these important aspects of adult life and providing the necessary guidance and support, CPAI is empowering them to navigate their relationships and personal lives effectively. This pioneering experiment of supporting and facilitating a marriage between individuals with mild intellectual disabilities is a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and recognizing their rights to form meaningful relationships and lead fulfilling lives. It is a testament to CPAI's commitment to pushing boundaries and creating opportunities for PDAs to live with dignity and independence. We hope that their journey as a married couple continues to be filled with happiness, growth, and success. Their story serves as an inspiration and a reminder that every individual, regardless of their abilities, deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams and live a fulfilling life.
